Vision

I really want to provide all students with as many opportunities as I can.

At some point I would like to offer classes with former West Enders like myself to come in and pass on their knowledge of the profession. This adds to students training and experience of dance.

I myself am more than happy to advise any keen students with career guidance.

I would like to organise ‘Stage Demonstration Classes’ where essentially students perform their class work live on stage in front of an audience.

Quite often parents can get left out and I feel it is very important to include you in your child’s development. Most of the time the studio is out of bounds as it is a training area, but this often leaves parents not really knowing what’s going on.

By performing live classes on stage it gives everyone the chance to see what actually goes on within a class.

Some students will really excel in this area, as some maybe more of a technician and perform better in a class scenario than as a performer on stage.

By bringing the 2 together it enables students to get a feel for the stage but at the same time enables them to also concentrate on the necessary technical skills that a class involves.

Festival Work

This is something I would really like to bring to students.

They can begin festivals at as early as 4 yrs (although I would personally recommend older years unless they are particularly born with no fear)

Festivals are something you either love or hate, and if you are new to them the best way to start is by coming along to watch to see if it’s your cup of tea or not.

It gives students a fantastic performing opportunity. They are competitions therefore you have to decide whether you can give the time, money and commitment required.
Students are able to perform solo’s, duets, trios and groups in all genres of modern, lyrical, song & dance, tap, ballet and classical amongst the many.

It involves their learning a piece of choreography that I will tailor make to suit their personality, age, ability.
This piece will then belong to that dancer for around 2 years and be used as many times as possible over that 2 year period.

I will then hand draw and design an individual costume for that dancer which will then be made by a professional seam stress.

I aim to enter 2 festivals per year to begin with and then work towards a yearly Showcase.

Yearly Showcase

Students love the opportunity to perform on stage and who can blame them when it is such an electrifying feeling, full of excitement and thrill.

I aim to produce a yearly show that incorporates the festival work so giving pupils a further performing opportunity.

This then gives pupils something to aspire to if they are not currently doing festivals and also gives festival students a chance to show all their hard work, progress and achievement.

Showcase and festivals will not be compulsory as it is not for everyone, but where ever possible I will encourage students to get involved particularly with the yearly show.

I also wish to encourage students to go on courses, see shows, get involved in performing and introduce them to different teachers, styles, formats and choreography.
